The Panama Canal Expansion is the largest project at the Canal since it was first constructed. The project will create a new lane of traffic along the Canal through the construction of a new set of locks, doubling the waterway’s capacity.
On June 26th, Panama and the rest of the world will pay special attention to the opening of the canal expansion project. It will be marked by a special event and the transit of the Cosco Shipping Panama vessel. The canal also provides a new green route which creates fuel, energy and water savings, thereby minimising the negative impacts of climate change.
