Lt. Cdr. Andre L. Lange RN – Director (Founder)
Lieutenant Commander Lange served in the Royal Navy for fifteen years during which time he sailed on a variety of vessels and commanded a Coastal Minesweeper. He retired from the Royal Navy in 1961 and returned to Trinidad to join the Trinidad Pilots and Berthing Masters Association. Mr. Lange left piloting to devote his time to business activities involving extensive interests in property and construction companies as well as in Marine Consultants. In addition to his marine experience as a Naval Officer and Marine Pilot, Mr. Lange has a Bachelor of Laws, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators and a Fellow of the British Institute of Management.
Mariella Lange – Director
Mariella has been involved in the construction and land development industry for over 10 years, and forms an integral part of MCL’s Board of Directors. Mariella has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Duke University in the United States.
Mr. Philip Vilain – Director
Philip received his BSc degree in Geology in 1979, and has 37 years diversified professional experience at an international petroleum consulting firm, a state owned oil company, an international drilling service company, an airline, a marine survey company and in companies delivering welding and fabrication services and industrial maintenance services.
Over the last 10 years he has held senior executive level positions, including Country Manager with Baker Hughes, General Manager and Commercial Manager with Capital Signal, CEO with Weldfab Ltd. and Country Manager with his current employer, Stork Technical Services Ltd. Additionally, he was appointed to the Board of Commissioners at the Water and Sewage Authority (WASA) from 2010 to 2013; and to the Board of the Environmental Management Authority from 2013 to 2015. He has both public sector experience (PetroTrin, CAL, WASA & EMA) and private sector experience (both local and foreign owned companies) and change management experience at Caribbean Airlines where he worked as a Project Management Consultant and Business Process Review Consultant.
Mr. Thomas Johnson- Director
Mr. Johnson is a highly accomplished entrepreneur and business leader who has made a considerable contribution to the local private sector by working with organizations such as the Trinidad & Tobago Energy Chamber, The National Local Content Committee, the Maritime Industry Development Committee, the Yacht Services Association of Trinidad & Tobago, University of Trinidad & Tobago and many others.
Mr Johnson has been involved with the marine and oil & gas industries for over 40 years and has successfully developed long term strategies for business growth. Drawing on the values that he cultivated at CISL since he founded it in 1979, Mr. Johnson encourages businesses to focus on staff development, employee empowerment, strong leadership and trust – values which he believes are imperative for sustainable business growth and the retention of talent.
Mr. John Lange- Director
John Lange is committed to customer service. A Captain himself, John understands the needs and urgency of MCL customers. John attended a Maritime Academy and enjoyed a career at sea. John has also worked for major oil and gas companies in their marine departments. Understanding, mitigating marine risk and delivering solutions will keep marine operators operating.
Ms. Caroline Potter-Vilain- Director
Caroline Potter has been employed with Marine Consultants since 1999 when she became the company’s Nautical Chart Corrector; a role which she was committed to for 15 years. Within that capacity, Caroline maintained consistently high international standards and set many best practices. Caroline is also a professional dancer who runs a highly acclaimed ballet school and performance company in Trinidad. Her ability to maintain high international standards and financial viability as the head of these companies, is a testimony to her creativity, leadership and organisational skills.
